Child star unrecognizable 35 years after TV show loved by millions made her famous

Child star Danica McKellar is unrecognizable in a new social media post 35 years after she starred in the TV show Wonder Years loved by millions of fans.

The American actress, who is now 48 years old, shared a string of images with her family from a recent trip to Costa Rica. After her stint on Wonder Years, the former TV child star kept a lower media profile and pursued a career as a mathematics writer.

The actress, who rose to fame with the characer Gwendolyn “Winnie” Cooper in Wonder Years, is unrecognisable in new pictures on Instagram. She appeared in episodes of the ABC show between 1988 and 1993.

Danica wrote she had a “wonderful time” in Costa Rica and enjoyed different activities, including snorkeling, waterfalls, horseback rides, and rainforest walks. 

In her last picture, the celebrity showcased her perfect “dance arms” in front of a waterfall which she learned from DWTS star Gleb Savchenko.

“Super grateful for the opportunity to make new family memories in a cool new spot, and I’m wishing you a week of making beautiful memories, whether on adventures, or right at home,” Danica finished her post.

The actress also teased that there might be a part two photo dump from the trip as they took additional underwater pictures and videos with her husband’s camera.

Danica pays tribute to Wonder Years

The actress paid a tribute to the beloved TV series and took a trip down memory lane with interesting tidbits behind her TV Guide cover shoot.

Danica and her Wonder Years co-star Fred Savage graced the cover of the magazine’s edition in June 1989.

“I remember NOT understanding the decision behind those swirly-patterned capri pants they gave me to wear,” she explained in her post.

“And fun fact: we were sitting on a horizontal tree trunk (from a living tree),” she added.

After Wonder Years, she landed guest roles in several TV series like Walker, Texas Ranger, Random Play, and The Division.

After Wonder Years, Danica studied at UCLA University and published several books on mathematics. Her first mathematics book became a New York bestseller.

The actress hasn’t closed the chapter on her acting career and appeared in a number of Hallmark Channel movies. They include Love and Sunshine, Christmas at Dollywood, My Christmas Dream, and Campfire Kiss.

She married her husband lawyer Scott Sveslosky in 2014 in Kauai, Hawaii, and has an eight-year-old son from a previous marriage.
