Jones County Junior College’s Concert Choir will perform its first concert of the season at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Ellisville. Choral director Joel Dunlap also begins this year as the newly elected president of the Mississippi Community College Choral Director’s Association.

The 102 talented members of the choir will perform a wide variety of music, including a Russian piece by Grigory Lvovsky, the concert spiritual by Edward Boatner “Ride On, King Jesus” and a rousing gospel selection by Rollo Dilworth, “I Sing Because I’m Happy.” The Sunday program will also include other favorites like “Danny Boy,” “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” and “Keramos.” Three sophomores, Ashley Adams of Laurel, Reagan Arnold of Collins and Steve Jones of Starkville, will be featured soloists. Assisting the choir as the group’s accompanist is JCJC’s fine arts faculty member Kay Guiles.
